Important Note
Official International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) rules and forms are also available on the ISEF site
Forms for Elementary School
ISEF forms are not required for Elementary School projects.
Students in grades 4-5 are encouraged to write an abstract for their portfolio and enter it in the abstract contest. Students who choose to write an abstract must complete the ASEF Abstract Form and upload it to the paperwork tab in ZFairs.
For more information, see the Elementary School Information page.
Upload the (optional for Elementary) abstract form to the ZFairs paperwork tab when registration opens.
Forms for Middle School
ISEF forms are not required for Middle School projects; however, it is strongly recommended that teachers have the students complete the following ISEF forms and write an abstract:
- Checklist for Adult Sponsor (1), Student Checklist/Research Plan (1A), Approval form (1B) from the ISEF Forms.
- Students in grades 6-8 are encouraged to write an abstract for their project portfolio and enter it in the abstract contest. Students who choose to write an abstract must complete the ASEF Abstract Form and upload it to the paperwork tab in ZFairs.
For more information, see the Middle School Information page.
Upload forms to the ZFairs paperwork tab when registration opens.
Forms for High School
ISEF forms are required for high school in order to be eligible for top prizes.
All high school students must complete forms 1, 1A, 1B, and the abstract form. Use the ISEF Rules Wizard to determine additional forms that may be required for your project’s subject.

- Students in grades 9-12 are required to write an abstract for their project portfolio. Upload the abstract on the ISEF abstract form (found in ISEF Forms) when ZFairs registration opens. Since the abstract will be uploaded with the portfolio, it will be entered automatically in the abstract contest.
