About the Alaska Science & Engineering Fair

The Alaska Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF), Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by a volunteer board of directors. Board members and other volunteers represent many  STEM-related career fields, businesses, and organizations in Alaska.

ASEF an International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)-Affiliated event. The annual ASEF fair is Alaska’s only ISEF-Affiliated science fair. Established in 1955, ASEF marks its 70th anniversary in 2025.

This annual exhibition of Alaska science and engineering projects showcases the research and innovation of students from across the state. Any student in grades K-12 may enter a science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics project. The fair takes place in Anchorage in March or April each year and includes both in-person and virtual participation. Independent judges from STEM-related fields evaluate every project and present awards for all age groups.

One or more high school grand prize winners will receive an expense-paid trip to enter the ISEF competition. Several Alaska students have earned college scholarships and major awards at ISEF!
